I have never understood the fear about gay parents 'making' their children gay. Since 99.9% of gay people were raised by straight parents, why didn't they 'make their children heterosexual?

As someone who has worked with kids in the child welfare system I am saddened by peoples' ideas and distortions about child adoption. As others have pointed out: 1) it is very difficult to adopt a young child as ridiculous efforts are often made to return them to their parents; 2) older children do desperately need homes--did your need for a supportive caregiver end the day you turned 18? 3) Often gay couples will go to the bottom of the list and have historically only been able to adopt the 'undesirable' children: older kids and kids with disabilities. And in the states where gay couples have been allowed to adopt they have been amazing about stepping up to adopt these children no one else wants. 4) Not everyone wants to adopt a very young child.

If you feel like your comments were misread, what exactly were you saying? What was the reference to blurred lines about? What is your politically incorrect observation?

And thank God for that. There are lots of teenagers in the foster care system who need loving, stable homes. Three cheers for the gay agenda!

Using the qualitatives such as "attractive gay couple" "attractive young boy" gives away easily what OP thinks about the subject. I don't think the couple is attractive. And the boy.. well is really just a boy. He is very tall, but it is so painfully obvious that he is still so young. Implying that there is something more to that adoption than only the willingness to give home to a child is really sad.

I have some sympathy with OP as he seemed to be OK with adoption in later posts but at the beginning at least message pointed exactly in one direction. It's like I am giving you a topic with some hints. Someone please say "that" something and start the debate while I watch.

If you had an attractive son, would you be attracted to him. No, probably not. Why, because you don't look at him that way. Now these 2 fathers adopted an attractive young man. Are they attracted to him. No, probably not. Why, because they don't look at him that way. People stop treating gay human beings like they are different from the rest of the world. We are not. Aside from the fact that we love someone from the same sex, we are all the same. If a straight person is a pedophile, it is because that is how he is and that is what he chooses to act on. Does not make ALL straight men pedophiles, does it? If a gay person is a pedophile, it is because that is how he is and what he chooses to act upon. It does not make ALL gay men pedophiles. Stop looking at the group and look at the individual.

The boy is 14, not 16. He also seems very happy to have a home.

I think these men have done a wonderful thing providing this young man with a family. I wish them all the best!

I agree completely. I don't notice anybody in this story being particularly good looking-I don't mean that as an insult I just don't understand what the OP is seeing-maybe the OP has a few subconscious kinks to work out of their own.

Obviously some are completely unaware of the foster care system and adoption process. You can't just "adopt a newborn baby girl" LOL infants are in high demand and there is barely ANY demand for kids school age and up.

My parents had a couple foster kids growing up and I knew many families that adopted kids 5-17 SPECIFICALLY because nobody else would adopt them-they were just bouncing from foster home to foster home or stuck in group homes.

Why must everything be so cynical-this is actually a nice story.

How many older foster children have you taken in? How have you helped prevent a child from aging out into homelessness thanks to no stability and support in life?

Yup. That's what I thought. Thank G-d for the "gay agenda."

If this "gay agenda" means providing a loving home for every kid that needs adoption, I am all for it.

Naw, it only made me wonder about the OP's definition of "attractive".
