The heat was brutal across North Texas today. The heat index in Fort Worth was 114 degrees and 110 degrees in Dallas. Thankfully, a weak cold front is pushing through the area and will bring lower humidity and temps in the lower 90s....but you know it won’t last long. Temps are forecasted to be back near 100 later next week.

Well currently in Las Vegas it is...

air 99°F
37°C
Humidity 5%
Wind Speed NNW 7 MPH
Barometer 29.84 in (1009.3 mb)
Dewpoint 17°F (-8°C)
Visibility 10.00 mi
Heat Index 93°F (34°C)
Last update 02 Jun 5:53 pm PDT

Of course some would point out that is impossible. Cannot be cooler in LV than DFW.

Note that dew point.

Very low dew point in Vegas I see.

The dew points in North Texas are in the lower 70s but some locations were in the mid 70s. The humidity really makes the differnece...

The official High was 98 at DFW but Dallas hit 101 degrees and Fort Worth hit 103 degrees.

I complain about the humidity in DFW quite a bit, but I'll still take a real green lawn and trees over a lawn of rocks and fake grass like low-humidty desert environments need to have - and that requires humidity & rain.

All in all, the heat wave was very underwhelming. Significantly hotter than usual at this time of year, but much cooler than predicted.

To state the obvious.

Yep. But I’ll be hot again later this week....

May 2018 was the 2nd hottest on record.

I'm from up north, and I dread my second summer here. they said it was mild last year, and to me it was hot as hell. so far it's been brutally hot.

IMO so far this year the weather has been brutally hot and very humid many days. But we've had near zero severe weather.

Adjusting isn't hard, and the trick is that you need to get water and get outside and stay outside. (In the shade is good). If you scurry from AC to AC like a roach caught out under the electric lights, you'll wind up like people I know who have been here twenty years and still not adjusted.

That's very nice weather. With such a low dewpoint it must've felt quite nice in the shade. I bet the sun was intense though.
