The forecast was in that vicinity. It may well have not made it to 120 but it was going to get close. But it did not happen.

At 106F the 36% RH number was wrong. Maybe it was the overnight number?

The number was an average of 46%RH. Roughly compatible with todays 45%RH. Today they called for an RH of 36% at peal temp.

Sure but it won't be 103-105F today.
Something is wrong with your numbers. Maybe your source made a simple typo? Because on the same day the National Weather Service was calling for almost exactly what we are going to get and that is a shade heat index of about 108.

Currently 97°F with 42% humidity. Pretty dry.Dallas' saving grace generally the really hot days above 95 don't accompany high humidity and also just like today the wind is gusty from the south at 20 mph.

Whereas down near the gulf of the south east states it'll be like 98 or 99 with high humidity (Which is far more miserable). The trade-off is that we have next to no chance for afternoon thunderstorms because there is so little moisture to work with. Whereas Atlanta, New Orleans, Florida would possibly see the summertime storm blow through and cool things down briefly. This weather was coming no matter what It's just about a month and a half early. lol.

That being said the past few summers had only a hand full of days above 100 so we were due for a scorcher. I'm hoping the rains come back sooner rather than later.

Actually, even for those areas, it still takes drier-than-normal air for temperatures to get that hot.

I’m not trying to be rude but did y’all listen in science class? Relative Humidity IS NOT the accurate measure of moisture in the air. Dew point is the only way that humidity can be accurately measured. Just about every metrologist in North Texas has said this on the air to get people to properly understand.

As of right now, it is 96 degrees but it feels like 103 because the dew point is at 70 degrees.

Literally EVERYONE in this thread knows how that works.

And the real problem IMO is our meteorologists should explain that the heat index temperature portion is taken in the shade. Ergo in places like Dallas etc. heat index understates heat stress on say a human body in the sunshine by about 11-13 degrees in desert areas by up to 15 degrees. That and dehydration are why so many people, even from hot areas, pass out/suffer sun and heat stroke in places like Vegas and Phoenix.

ETA - right now in the city (Dallas) it's 96F with a heat index of 102 according to the TV news.

You know, on the bright side, the shock has already started making temps in the low 90s look good. It's all relative, right?

(Until I run away somewhere like Tennessee where I don't have to engage in head games to make it through June)
