Then again, it's not entirely lvmensch's fault. After all, the desert literally makes you go crazy.

I’ve never heard of Dallas having heat indices above 120. 110 degrees? Absoultely. 120 degrees? No way.
The hottest I've seen in Dallas is 117F with the heat index, which happened last year a few times and the year before that. Before that, the highest I've seen was 112F. I'd say the record will pass 120F in the next few years.

Which summer was more miserable? Yes, 1980 set the Dallas-Fort Worth record for consecutive days of 100 degrees or more, 42, and so far maintains the annual record of 69 100-degree days. Head-to-head, 2011 falls a little short with “only” 40 100-degree days in a row and 68 days overall.

And 1980 has the “Hail Mary” of temperatures between the two years, a one-day high of 113 compared with the 2011 maximum of 110. Plus 1980 had 28 days where the roasting hit 105 compared with only 18 days so far this year (2011).

I'm looking at the chart and it clearly says 2017!

We already went over this earlier in the thread, and you've already been proven wrong. End of story.

Yes, it's been fun watching your inferior mind shrivel up at the sight of hard facts.

Nope, but that dry, desert air of Las Vegas certainly does. It also seems to cause visual problems of some sort.

First off, the chart in post #58 was only the first of several charts that I posted shown. The "2017" clearly was referring to the later charts imaged in the next post (#59), which you seem to be avoiding (gee, I wonder why?).

Second, the 1981-2010 range in post #58's chart is the exact same range as the data in your link on post #42. Both also come from the same source (NWS/NOAA). The only difference is that yours is missing some years, causing some values to be off.

Hey, Texyn,

Is there someplace I can read up on that ridge? What you've said explains a LOT about our weather, and I'd like to get a better understanding.

Wow I didn't know Texyn invaded the DFW forum as well.

This is going to be one long hot summer and it hasn't even begun!

I moved down here in 2011, literally a few days before the Big Ice Storm, and then got to enjoy that WONDERFUL summer.

If that wasn't a big "Welcome to Dallas, now [eff] you!", I don't know what was.
