Stupid question, but after this current upcoming 2-week heat wave, should I expect cooler temps afterwards, or just plan on it being high 90s and hot all the way through the rest of June?

Most likely with only a day or two off it will be pretty hot from now until early Sept. Maybe not always high 90s but very warm.

You are actually not telling the truth. Please gather facts before you embarrass yourself.

I'm not a scientist, just born and raised here. I'm guessing you can expect a very hot summer all the way through. Not sure about 90s, but 90s for sure. And not just through June. July and August usually make June look cool.

It can't sustain 105 this early in the season. There will be a slight cool down, maybe low 90's, then expect another heatwave in late June / early July but this time it will put the current one to shame.

Welcome to Texas!

The Climate Prediction Center issues outlooks for overall temperature and precipitation over three-month periods. For the "JJA" period (June, July, and August) there's a 60% likelihood that the temperatures overall will be what they call "above normal." Normal is what they call the middle third of past years for that three-month period. Below normal refers to the coolest third. The outlook tells us that there's a 60% likelihood that the overall temperatures will be within the range of the warmest 10 years of the 30 years on which our current normals are based (1981-2010).

That's the technical answer. The practical answer is that it is going to be hot all the way into October. There may be cool days, especially if we get rain, and sometimes there's a nice cool-down in September, but the hot weather comes back if there is. The heat can range from moderate (by our standards), which we've had for the past few summers, to horrendous (again, by our standards), but there will be heat. How severe it is depends on the year and on how well you deal with it, but this is likely to be one of the hotter years.

More than likely it’s going to stay hot.

This is only a heat wave because we’re going to see triple digits in late May/early June...but as the summer season progresses, these temps will become the norm. We usually don’t see our first 100 degree day until July 1st. Sadly, the peak of the heat is late July/early August, that’s when the average temp is 96-97 degrees. Around that time, we literally can see 100 degree temps everyday of the week. Don’t expect the heat to retreat until October or in some cases early November. Last year, the last 90 degree day was November 5th.

This is an example of a heat wave during August (the hottest time of the year)

This particular heat wave was in 2015
