Do I get my money back for saving and scrimping to put 4 kids through college? If so, I'm all for it.. I figure that would get me back approximately $270,000... Let me know where to pick up my check.

Thumbs up Do You Agree with Sanders' "Free College" Platform?

A much better use of taxpayer funds than another idiotic Mideast war, which is what the right is endlessly pushing for. That $6 trillion flushed down the toilet in Iraq sure gained us a lot, after all.

Most people aren't even capable of going to college. If college was reserved for only those qualified, then maybe it would make sense for the government to pay for college, just as they do for primary and secondary education. As already stated earlier, there would be demands for quotas so that the universities would be more diverse. Looking at Bernie's platform, there is no doubt that he would agree with this. And this would end up ruining the whole purpose of college.

While I agree that both wars were a waste of taxpayers money, one doesn't justify the other.

As others have posted, there are some people who are not capable of college level studies. Not everyone has what it takes to become a doctor or engineer. Regardless these people do deserve to live and earn a decent living. The problem is that in the name of profit many of the jobs filled by these folks have disappeared. In the next two years 45% of the remaining manual labor jobs will be gone. It is a wonderful idea to have free education for all. Keep in mind we still need to provide jobs for those who are not college material.

Dad told us kids that he would pay for our college education if we took the first two years of ROTC and, if offered, we accepted a reserve commission contract. We didn't have to make the military a career, but we had to have the basic training to be ready if the country called.

If a similar arrangement was made for this "free college", I could very well say yes.

But if not, ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Why? Well, when people have no stake in something, none of their "blood" in it, they are less likely to fight for what it means to succeed.

Fortunately in the real world (something liberals are unfamiliar with) those aren't the only options. The vast majority of people who don't get a progressive education don't end up in prison. I'd rather not pay for yet another undeserved entitlement.

That 45 people at the time of my posting that voted college should be free tells you all you need to know about the problems we are facing with the absolute morons that are the younger generation. While they will change their opinions as the mature, it will be too late for them to walk it back.

Most people, with or w/o college, are law abiding. Do you need a bribe to be a law-abiding citizen?
