And that will remain. Why, money backing. Perhaps the Koch brothers can give funds to them but who knows. I don't know if enough people will do to get that 5% that Libertarians want it to be.

Why do you assume that because you have issues with the major parties that all other voters do, too?

Ron Paul is probably a bigger charlatan than Donald Trump, and his Libertarian worshippers were the biggest dupes ever. Paul was nothing but a Republican Right Wingnut who used Libertarian Party sheeple to pad his campaign bankroll.

Gary Johnson might not be the answer himself, but Libertarianism is the future of the Republican Party. If they were smart they would go with it. They need to drop the social conservative religious law and order crap.

I don't know why people continue to support the establishment...yet continue to talk about how it's failed to do what they claimed, other than continually grow the government.

Why do I assume that - because I hear it constantly...on NPR, political radio stations, television channels, friends, random people. Yet, because of the social norm that we only have two "legitimate" parties...voting outside of that is *insert whatever bs excuse you want*.

If people want change, stop voting for the establishment.

I wouldn't exactly call Ron Paul a "right wingnut", when he explicitly states that he's for small government, no taxes, and personal freedom (or the new buzz word, social freedoms). He was never liked by the Republicans...but you're right, he used the republican party to get elected and have his voice heard. Much like the liberal Trump using the weak republican field to his advantage.

I believe, the Libertarian Party has to petition to get on the ballot in quite a few states, in order to automatically get on all state ballots they need to garner over a certain percentage in a national election (please correct me if I'm wrong). That would then give them access to public election funds, which are now exclusively handed to only the democrat or republican parties. If Johnson can gain enough national prominence to put the LP on the map, it may become an alternative in congressional elections and build the populist movement. The main reason the LP hasn't done well is funding and limited media exposure, money wins elections. I feel it's the middle ground we need to accommodate both liberals and conservatives. The whole premise of the LP is less federal government, and both democrats and republicans advocate even more government interference in our lives. If this election cycle has done anything, it is showing that the American people are fed up with our corrupt and ineffective government, it has become a monstrosity and an oligarchy.

Then, why has Trump done so well against the establishment politicos? Why does the GOP fear his nomination? Perhaps people have had enough. The Democrats are next.

They're on several, more on the way and potential to be on all 50 come November. No other third party comes close to that...which is why they constantly get mentioned by the GOP crowd as the potential train to derail and use to spear their "never Trump" platform. However, I highly doubt the LPC will allow a GOP candidate to just show up and win their nomination.

They need to garner 5% of the general election vote to get a fair share of the federal funding, which is doable in this election - if they market their campaign properly. in 2008, McCain alone received 84 million. The 2012 funding stats haven't been released yet for the general election. This election, it's expected that both establishment parties will receive up to or over 100 million each from federal funding. That's a huge sum for a third party.
