He prosecuted Mexican cartel members while he was in CA, but now he can't be objective.

Quote:
For much of a year, Gonzalo P. Curiel, then a federal prosecutor in California, lived officially in hiding.
He hunkered down for a while on a naval base and in other closely guarded locations under the protection of United States marshals. Even his siblings did not know exactly where he was at times.
The reason: In a secretly taped conversation inside a San Diego prison, a man accused of being a gunman for a Mexican drug cartel said that he had received permission from his superiors to have Mr. Curiel assassinated

The DNC needs to tie all the Republicans supporting Trump tightly to him. Super tight. Because when Trump flips out, it will be like bowling pins. Trump is not used to negative press, nor this level of scrutiny. It's getting more difficult for him to cover up the truth of what he is. This attack on the heritage of an American judge really exposes him for what he is.

Many Latinos oppose the drug cartels and illegal aliens that are serious criminals but they are still advocates for those who are not.

You have noticed this thread is about trump and his fans insisting a judge should withdraw from a case due to his "race, creed and color", right? Sort of the point of contention.

the fact that the judge voluntarily participates in and therefore supports race and ethnic-based activity IS relevant, just as it would be relevant, for example, if a discrimination case brought by a black plaintiff against a white defendant were put before a judge who in his spare time participates in deliberate and self-defined whites-only activities.

While it is probably not unlawful for a judge to participate in a race or ethnic based professional group, it is clearly not appropriate - and by any common sense measure, taints the judge's impartiality in matters involving race, gender, ethnicity, etc.

End of story. The pro-Clinton media can twist it to look however it wants. I understand they want Clinton to win. Most people are too lazy to read the whole story, which is fine.

I love how the word "clearly" snuck in there, because there's nothing inappropriate in a judge being part of a legal association of his/her choosing.

Good thing the case in question is concerned with simple fraud, then. Trump pulled an old-school bait-and-switch - promised one thing, took he money, and delivered something markedly inferior. Not one single ethnicity mentioned in the suit. Con men will fleece marks of any skin color - no discrimination whatsoever.

The fact that Trump went out of his way to insult the judge based on ethnicity is just bad judgment. One might say stupid.

The defendant in the case is going to build a wall between Mexico and the United States. The judge could be biased in this case because he supports race and ethnic based activity.

Defendants do not have the right to shop around for judges until they arrive at one whose heritage they haven't insulted. A member of the KKK doesn't get to insist on a white judge, does he?
