This is just one of 367, 000 hits and I only used the first part of the supposedly copied segment. As I said before, nobody has exclusive rights to traditional sayings.
To be fair, I honestly doubt Trump's wife wrote her speech. I thought her delivery was excellent. What really impressed me was her good memorization. She never tripped up once, and that's pretty hard to do when English isn't a person's first language.
And I'm pretty sure there's some speech writer out in the alley somewhere, still trying to get back on his feet after the thumping he got.
Its very common for speech writers to use someone else's effective speech of the past. The trick is to re-phrase all the best parts carefully enough to avoid plagiarizing. More than one sad politician has had his ship broken in half on those rocks.
And I doubt Mrs. Trump will be seen much after this. She was already reluctant to go on stage earlier, and I'll bet she's even more so now.
I agree.
And although I can not stand Donald Trump, I was looking forward to hearing Melania's speech. She was poised and confident to be sure but....
It is unbelievable that Donald Trump let this entire thing happen to her. She did not deserve to have her first true introduction to the nation to be marred in scandal and partisan banter. Making certain that his wife, the potential First Lady (heaven forbid) was well presented should have been a TOP priority for Donald. He should have made certain that she had the proper staff to write, research and help coach her. That really was not fair to her. Not fair at all. And instead of Trump supporters attacking Hillary supporters you should be questioning Donald's lack of delegation and effective use of resources.
One of the ghost writers for Trump has been named as the person who is going to take the fall for this screw up, a woman who has a long association with the family and will not be fired, according to the report I heard.
Actually, most of us don't really care, since she isn't the one running for office. However, since you brought up "hypocrisy" what about the Republicans who, for the past 7 years, have disrespected President Obama and the First Lady? Think about it. Barack and Michelle were college sweethearts who both graduated Harvard Law, got married and raised a family. Now look at the man they just nominated. It's not just hypocrisy, it's shameful and outright bigotry.
You don't get it. Pres Obama and former Gov Patrick are both Democrats. They are also friends. They were both quoting other people in their speeches.
OTOH, Donald Trump, Grand Wizard of the Birthers, has not only consistently criticized the Obamas for 8 years, but he's tried to delegitimize Obama's right to lead the country.
