This election kinda sounds like 2008, but the other way. Many of us; Repub AND Dem, voted for Obama cause we were scared of Palin being 1 heartbeat away from the White House. In 2016 Pence may help carry Trump OVER Hillary and Kaine.
If the role of advocating for your candidate is the main duty of a VP candidate, Pence failed big time. He did little to defend Trump other than say that Trump did not utter the words we all have heard. Pence went off on his own agenda often in conflict with Trump's positions, promoted his own vision, and worked his appeal to conservative Republicans for 2020.
I'm not a fan of Pence, but he won this debate. He's by far the calmest most respectable person from the 2 major parties. Kaine has a personality similar to Trump imo. Pence struggled at times defending some of Trumps statements, but that's not his fault.
