What really killed her chances is that a lot of her supporters simply did not vote ! Not sure if they felt they had no reason to as it was in the bag, or what, but many people stayed home this year.
Hillary essentially committed an internal coup of the democratic party leading up to the election after having her "sure thing" blow up in her face in 2008. She used their power to put loyalists in power throughout the organization to ensure that no one like say....Bernie Sanders could possibly have a chance to be selected by dem voters.

The leaked information about cheating Bernie hurt turnout and also tipped moderates (and cheating at the debates) NOT TO MENTION that a lot of black voters remembered her unfavorably from the 2008 primary vs. President Obama....where her supporters etc. were labeled as racists. Ironic consider her campaign smeared Bernie as racist and anti-woman. (A recurring trend in US politics anymore)

1) Ever heard of population growth? Oh well, I guess since todays workers make more money than people in the 1950's that they're paid a lot better.

2) People citing popular vote totals are the birthers of 2016.

The same was true on the other side anytime the GOP lost an election. The same would have been true when Gore and Kerry lost. Is this one significantly harder to deal with?

It goes without saying that Hillary got more votes than many if not most past presidents. Our population has grown. The fact that Obama got more underscores the fact that this election saw a substantial increase in people just staying home and not voting -- and America's absolute frustration with the last 4 years of W.

2008
Barack Obama -- 66,862,039
John McCain -- 58,319,442

2012
Barack Obama -- 62,616,535
Mitt Romney -- 59,090,075

2016
Hillary Clinton -- 62,523,126 and counting
Donald Trump -- 61,201,031 and counting

Obama clearly came in with a lot of enthusiasm, so that record likely remains unreachable for now. With something on the order of 5 million votes still uncounted, it is quite reasonable to assume that both Trump and Clinton will get more votes this year than either candidate did in 2012. (If somebody has a more recent tally, by all means let me know and link it.) Having grown up in the 80's, I must say it's refreshing to see elections that are more closely contested than those I saw in my childhood. A one-sided beatdown means that one side didn't have much substance to their message.

One thing that I think really hurt Hillary is that she does not come across as exciting. Obama, when he spoke, was inspiring and exciting. When I saw him years ago, when he gave that speech for (I think) Clinton at the DNC, I said to my GF at the time, "If he ran for President, I would vote for him, and I did, twice. He still gives one of the best speeches going.

Hillary has a lot of experience and skills, but is pretty dull, frankly. Very matter of fact-ish, and does not come across as warm and sincere. I still think she would have done good for America, but she simply was not a person many folks warmed up to.

No. 1: Donald Trump is not a "horrible candidate." Give us a reason for that blatantly harsh criticism. On what do you base your opinion? Are you basing it on the lies that the Democrat controlled left-wing media told about him throughout the campaign? Do you always believe everything you're told? Are you incapable of independent thought?

No. 2. The nationwide popular vote is irrelevant because that is not how we determine the winner. We are 50 sovereign states. People of each state vote their choice. Trump won (by popular vote) in more states than Hillary by a large majority. Look at the map. Hillary was only able to win in a handful of states. She lost BIG TIME.

You need to educate yourself on how our system works, and why it was designed that way.

Hilary would have won if she were not so bitter. She was hateful and sexist towards males...woman did not like this...and men did not like this...simple.

Was this "tongue in cheek" humor?

Hillary has only "fought" to increase her wealth and has never given a damn about anyone else. Bill and Hillary's policies helped to destroy the middle class, set the stage for the financial meltdown, and sold political favors for money.

I can't believe anyone would have supported such a corrupt criminal who has (and would have) been a pawn for the highest bidder and continued a flood of illegals to the US.

Eight years for Trump, and then eight years for Mike Pence. Hopefully, the Democrat (socialist) Party has been neutered for many, many years.

The morning news just said those magic words... "President Elect Trump".

Gotta love the sound of a winner, unlike losing.
