Why are you asking this guy to tell you everything Obama is going to do? Does that prove anything? The point is that there isn't going to be nearly as much vetoing and filibustering now that Congress and the President will work together. And we don't have Bush screwing up everything anymore.

Yeah it will now be a collective effort to screw things up.
Thanks for the laugh.

I'll take bi-partisan screwups over dictatorial screwups a la president Cheney.

There are so many things to choose from, so please elaborate...are you happier about the fact that he instantly decided to start federally funding foreign abortions, or that he's trying to release terrorists, or that he appointed a tax cheat to the treasury, or that he's giving away money to those that mishandled it in the first place?

He's obviously got a view of where he wants to take this country and he's already working on it. Moral bankruptcy (and just plain ol bankruptcy) here we come!

Remember what we in this forum want is really inconsequential. What counts is what America wanted and got on November 4. Praise and thank you still resonate.

I think I prefer the term "cautious optimism" to "happiness" but whatever you want to call it, it's a positive feeling that so far seems to be growing. (For most people of course. Can't please everyone.)

It's a feeling like we were all on the Titanic, with a captain heading straight for the icebergs. But now we have a new captain who finally sees the icebergs and who's steering as hard as he can to set a safer course. So yes, there is still plenty to worry about but it seems like we are on a better course--and that's what creates this feeling.

Wow, I guess it's a feeling of hope. I haven't felt it in such a long time that I almost didn't recognize it.

Exactly how I feel. I am cautiously optimistic that many of the issues that are important to me will finally be addressed and as I can already see evidence of this, yes, I guess I am happier every day

I think the republicans have nearly decided whether or not Obama can make any progress in 2 years and that will decide if they play obstructionists or not. If they go along with him and we're much worse off( very likely) the next two years, then they'll get lumped along with the democrats and fall prey to being voted out based on poor performance.
But if they oppose him loudly without appearing nasty and he tanks the economy, they can make impressive gains the next election and position themselves to sweep back to power in 4 years.
Vulnerable dems will also think about the elections in 2 years and not want to risk their jobs either so they may resist his plans.
I'm a little happy myself, Obama seems to be ready to fall flat on his face early on and damage his credibility with lasting negative impressions. That's tempered by the fact that we're heading for a very stormy geopolitical horizon and a gloomy economic forecast.
