I dress younger than I am, at times, because it's what's most comfortable. I have no interest in my mid 40's wearing Dockers and Topsiders to backyard BBQ's if that's what you are referring to.

Take a drive around OC, a fair number of men in my age range dress similar when they aren't at work.

I just grab what's handy and comfy at Costco. Shorts tshirts, sox, briefs, and shoes what more could you ask for, seriously?

Maybe I should upgrade for an Aloha shirt like Clooney?

I'm 59 also. I was raised in central Indiana and graduated in 1973. The way I remember it, about the only kind of athletic shoes we had in the mid 60's were Keds. They came in 2 colors, black and white, and they came in high top and low top. Those were the shoes we wore for gym class and everybody referred to them as "gym shoes".

As I remember it, was around 1971 they came out with Converse tennis shoes, and they became even more popular than Keds. I think it was around 1973 that Addidas became very popular and then soon after that, it was like an explosion of different brands of athletic shoes that is pretty much what we have today in the year 2014. .

But back in the 60's "gym shoes" was the common wordage that was used. I rarely hear the term used anymore, but occasionally I do and when I do hear it, it's always by somebody from our generation.

Responding to lizardspock above^^^^

Exactly. But if you're not, and you're 30+, hell I'll even bump it up to 35+, and you are looking for a partner, how you present yourself says a lot. Women in that age group are generally looking for mature, responsible, grounded men, not boys.

idk about everyone but how i won my wife had nothing to do with what i wore but rather how i treated her, how i put her first, how i listed to her, and how i was there for her when she needed.

It's always funny how everything goes back to dating and relationships. Do you get dressed everyday thinking about what random men who you've never met will think of you?

Ive never been, but I think that look started in prison, where having your ass hanging out of your pants was a way of advertising what you had for sale.
