Natural blonde hair is rare and makes up approximately 2% of the world's population, mostly concentrated in Northern Europe and places where Northern Europeans immigrated to, like Canada, the US, and Australia.
Black is the most common hair color in the world, and is due to a large amount of eumelanin. Brown is also common, and is due to eumelanin mixed with a bit of pheomelanin. Blond is only found in about 2% of the world's population. It is due to very small amounts of melanin. Slight amounts of black, brown, and red make for all the variations we see in blonds - such as ash, flaxen, and strawberry blond. And red hair is the rarest of all, about 1% of the world. It is due to high levels of pheomelanin plus low levels of eumelanin.
If a brunette or redhead "becomes" blonde, she'll still have dark eyelashes. If she uses a light mascara, it won't lighten them enough to make a difference.
All the beauty advice tells women to wear black or at least black/brown mascara, even if they are blonde....real blondes will almost all use black or otherwise dark mascara, not light brown. You can only rarely find anything light brown or red so this is not a good test.
Most natural blondes are lighter complected and have lighter colored eyes like blue or green. I've been told that most blondes have lighter eyebrow color than hair color. That is true for me. I pencil in my eyebrows with a darker color and wear brown black mascara. I used to have really light colored hair, but it turned dishwater blonde in my 30's.
Also you can look at the roots of the hair. They will be darker if the hair has been lightened.
If you have seen enough natural blondes (and there aren't many natural blondes), it's easy to tell the difference. A natural blonde will have natural color variances/streaks of different colors, whereas a bleached blonde is more one color. Plus a natural blonde's hair is in better condition. You can tell a bleached blonde's hair because it's often overprocessed/coarse/stiff/dull looking. Plus, even if she bleaches it regularly, you will start to see dark roots in between bleachings.
Sometimes you can tell by the eyebrows, but not always.
Eyebrows. Most people have darker eyebrows than their hair, but most natural blondes still have lighter brown eyebrows. Brunettes usually have dark eyebrows that are almost black, for example.
Most natural blondes also have lighter arm hair.
You can also often tell by how their hair matches their skin tone. Like, if you look at the pictures of Kim Kardashian with her new blonde hair, you can clearly tell that her hair color does not match her skin tone.
Was born platinum blonde in late 20's hair started getting darker/drab. Was told by my hairdresser I had a great base and just had to highlight...when I hit late 40's had to start lightening my base too...I still have very light lashes ,brows and arm hair...my eyes are still blue(thank goodness)
