I expected....

It was warmer in the winter than MA. It was.
It was a new start in my life. It was.
There were palm trees. Yep there are.
There were new job opportunities. There WERE.
It was cheap to live. It WAS...
Summers were hotter than MA. Sure as hell are...

I came to FL back in 94 with absolutely NO knowledge of FL. My ex girlfriends brother talked us into coming here. All i knew of was it was FL... Beaches, Disney, Warm climate. I ended up in a decent career coming here, learned a lot. I have done ok in FL. just cannot deal with the heat anymore, and I have good reason now.

Our family is moving from CT to St Johns county this winter, as hubby has wanted to move south forever and I'm finally willing to give it a try. Here's my expectations, both good and bad.

Looking forward to:
-leaving behind months of temperatures below 45 degrees
-being near great beaches, the Caribbean, Disney World and all the theme parks
- exploring a new area
- hopefully meeting nice families and making new friends
- buying a large, new home for cash and having it still be bigger than the house I live in now
- spending more time on our boat and swimming in our pool
- living further west, so the sun comes up a little later in through your bedrm windows

Not looking forward to: months of high humidity, my allergies getting worse, mosquito bites (cause they love me), missing my family and all the good parties and holidays we celebrate together back north, lack of diversity, a house with a small lot, missing the rolling hills and change of colors every spring and fall, no snow at Christmas.

Yeah... I can relate to most of these... Except I would never buy a house in FL for anything...

Well, I got pregnant and that was the best thing that ever happened to me. She's 10 now.

Why would you blame Florida for getting pregnant at 16?
