We really ought to have a whole new thread with a poll in it on this issue.

We could call it "To soak or not to soak."

I'm a non-soaker.

I'm weird about this.. I am pretty grossed out by a lot of canned goods, including most canned vegetables except for tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and a few others. So I don't like to put canned beans in things like salad. However, if I'm making my mom's chili recipe that I've been eating all my life, which has canned kidneys and pintos, all of a sudden canned beans are delicious!?

great minds think alike I just bought all the fixins to make shishkabobs this morning on the grocery run. It is calling for rain but I don't see it stopping me from grilling. I guess I am just way to stubborn to give in.

I guess everyone has their preferences, I'm not that fond of most canned veggies but other than split peas and lentils, I'm OK with the canned beans although I probably don't eat as much as many recommend. I use the Cannellinis (rinsed) in a salad with tuna and they make a decent quick soup when pureed, thinned with stock, and prosciutto and sage added.
