Tonight was one for the record books. Dry aged 3 inch thick porterhouse, rare, baked Japanese yam, caramelized brussells sprouts, crimini mushrooms cooked in a Pinot noir Demi glacé with shallots, and I topped the steak with sizzling melted clarified butter with parsley flakes, and drank a nice glass of good Barolo. Nitey nite
I fried up a big pan of tilapia, fries, and a small potato salad. Some had tilapia and fries and others had tilapia and potato salad. And of course, a big pitcher of sweet tea.
Last night ended up totally different from what I intended and tonight might as well, but I am going to take a cornish game hen out of the freezer; I will roast it, have Waldorf salad (one of spoiled brat's favorite) , ramen noodles with cilantro, ginger, green onions and a little soy sause (yummy) and probably green beans and shallots. When our daughter went to the Asian market the other day, they had bags of them for $1.25. The Asian market always has a bin with something on sale. She grabbed a bag and split it with me.
Well I was going to make a pot roast but I am trying an experiment. My husband always falls asleep after a big dinner. Tonight I want him to watch the NE vs SD game with me at 8:30. So instead of a big Sunday dinner I am going to just make BLTs with guacamole, of course. Maybe, just maybe he will make it to halftime with me. Fingers crossed!
