I waste nothing, but then again I'm one of these people who buys packaged food and it comes in a normal serving size that I can easily eat all of. So there is no problem of cooking more than enough and letting it lie around and go off and having to throw it away.
I admit food and money is wasted at my house. It is bad to go to the supermarket to load up on food you cannot eat, cook and prepare it, have leftovers of it for multiple days and feel hungry and malnourished. The waste is money spent on food you are not going to eat, food that will be thrown away and the overabundance of trash you have.
First, cook and prepare food that people will eat over not eating. No one wants to live off of the processed foods of ground beef patties, stir fry and the crock pot on a daily basis.
Second, buy products that has minimal packaging.
Third, eat out sometimes in wait-staff restaurants. You deserve a quality meal and the need to get out sometime.
My adopted Mom gave me the Ziploc vacuum sealer as a gift, I have yet to try it. Anyone else have one?
Is it a wide rectangular one or a handheld nozzle style? I had the former several years ago and it was pretty terrible. My sister's neighbor actually worked for them and gave us a free one, but I am so glad we didn't spend any money on it. It used ziplock bags with a valve on the side and it was nearly impossible to get a good seal. The bags themselves were quite expensive. They discontinued it awhile back as far as I know.
It's just another vacuum sealer system....slightly cheaper than the foodsaver, a bit less powerful.....but they seem to do the just about the same job. I don't believe it has the canister options is about the main difference.
I had no idea that so many people would not eat leftovers. I'm kind of shocked. We purposely go out to eat a lot because the large portions will often serve as two more meals of leftovers, making eating out very cheap on a per person per meal basis.
