yes and those of us who are trying to keep up our property values are in a situation. so all I am saying is that in south florida its not going to get any better, between insurance costs and threat of hurricanes , taxes and whatever else what is the attraction ? warm weather in the winter is about it and if we check the figures there are more people moving out than in! oh well thats all I am going to say on the matter ...

Worst economy? The economy here is actually fairing better than most of the country. The uneployment rate is low, and there are jobs to be found. The problem is the crime here and the people that have moved here over the past few years. I moved here in late 1999 to a safe area in Fort Lauderdale, close to downtown. I've watched my neighborhood deteriorate into something you would only find in a third world country. First of all, if you are going to move here, learn English. It's maddening to walk into a local store and not be able to understand the help, or order food at a restaurant because your server doesn't understand a lick of English. I'm tired of hearing roosters crow at 5 am because several of my Spanish neighbors raise them in their back yards. I'm tired of calling the local supermarket to retrieve shopping carts that are left all over the neighborhood, including in front of my house. I'm tired of 20+ people living in a small 2 bedroom house with a dozen cars parked all over the yard just to be able to afford living in Fort Lauderdale. I hate driving down the street and seeing the house painted purple or blue. I'm tired of all the panhandlers at all the intersections in the city begging for money. Fort Lauderdale, and South Florida totally suck, and I don't mean to be crass. People, including myself, are moving out in droves because of all the Caribbean and Hispanic people moving in here and destroying what was once a pardise. I can't wait to get out of here and I wouldn't move here unless I was Hispanic or Caribbean, because that is all that is going to be here in a few years.

My husband & I re-located to S. Floria from NY around 11 years ago. Both of us have found the job market situation down here quite PLENTIFUL! We happen to be in sales. We have NEVER had a problem finding a job down here. Their has always been a steady and consistant need for inside/outside sales professionals, recruiters, telemarketers, call center reps, customer service, and client service reps in a variety of industries.

For the past few years, I have been a recruiter. I began working from home last year as an independant contract recruiter. For me, I needed and wanted to stay home for my children. My contracts are with national companies. So I always have a steady stream of work. My husband is a benefits/insurance project manager/director. He also has national accounts. Again, this gives us a safety net so that we will always have a steady stream of work (regardless of where we live).

You must live in pretty crappy neighborhood in Ft.Lauderdale and yes there are panhandlers in the bad areas ... so just stay out of these areas ... I live in Weston with my family a city that is nearly 50% Hispanic and I have NEVER SEEN or heard any roosters , or seen purple or blue houses .... you get what you pay for ... your argument is like living in the Fith Ward or South West Houston , the Bronx or Brooklyn , or Compton , Santa Ana or East LA and saying that Houston , NYC & Los Angeles suck because of the panhandlers and Hispanics in these cities .

South florida is still paradise, great weather, beautifull people, nude beaches. Yes, there's a hurricane once a few years but you'll know it with plenty of time to hit the airport and come back when the electricity is finally restored.

Such a good point. Right now in NYC it means living in the east or west side of Harlem or the South Bronx vs. Riverdale (multi million dollar homes). It makes a big difference.

No, that wasn't a ignorant and racist statement

Wild Style, you read his comment incorrectly. Cane Fan was referring to the other racist comments above.
