I mean it’s not rocket science lol.

Im not saying chains are necessarily bad. Some are great but I’m not going to eat @ Dominoes or Pizza hut when we have awesome local pizza places here.
What makes local places in the north better than the local places in the south? Why would you go to the south to eat at pizza hut when you can find a local place that's better?

This is possibly the most ridiculous, uninformed thing I've seen posted in a while. You are simply not qualified to make such a preposterous claim. Chains tend to cluster in high growth areas, and mostly stear clear of stagnant or declining regions. And we also know our local joints rock.

I wouldn't eat at Chipolte any more if I lived in San Diego.

And by the way, with all of the incredible Italian food, I wonder who is supporting the Olive Gardens in Brooklyn (2 locations), The Bronx and Valley Stream?
Um, Southern transplants?

He grinned and replied "Not from around here are ya?". I ordered it. It was literally a slice of fresh-baked dark rye bread covered with butter, topped with a thick slice of raw onion. It was fantastic! The best accompaniment to my fresh-not-frozen fish fry and frosty mug dinner ever. Can't get that at any chain (not to mention the ambiance).

No, most of us know from good Italian. Not too many Southern transplants to Brooklyn, The Bronx and Valley Stream either. Those are locals with vanilla palates supporting these locations.

Thats fine but I didnt think ppl visited the South specifically for food. In the North ppl come specifically for food … nyc: little italy/NY pizza, katz’ deli, juniors cheesecake, chinatown, li/boston/ct: lobster rolls, philly: philly cheesesteaks, maine: lobsters, boston: chowdah … what are ppl coming to the South for? I’d wager the beaches are a large part of it. Sure maybe the food’s good, but ppl are not specifically coming for that. Ppl literally visit Nortern cities specifically for the food.
