Uh oh New York, it looks like some sort of dinosaur is going through two of your new buildings.
Haha. I've always said it looks like a venus fly trap. But with a $3 billion price tag and the Port Authority tightening its belt, it may end up going the way of the dinosaur.
I don't want to remember Cloverfield, 2 hours of dizziness.

"According to Silverstein, Tower 3 would need to be redesigned (though the extent of that redesign is unclear) to suit Merrill, and the foundation plans for Towers 3 and 4 would have to be amended. Hence, the extension. A deal with Merrill Lynch to fully occupy the building would be a major coup for Silverstein, given the lengthy courtship of the firm by several developers. Work on Towers 3 and 4 is already underway. A look at Sir Richard Rogers' 71-story WTC Tower 3, aka 175 Greenwich Street, is presented above."
175 Greenwich is being slightly expanded (height and width) to hold Merrill Lynch since they demanded more space.
I've been keeping up with WTC news so I know what I'm talking about.
Well, I personally don't think it compliments the rest of the skyline. Cool building, but I don't like the way it affects the skyline as a whole.
I'm entitled to my opinion.
No need to freak out.
(PS: I wouldn't use the word global - the Asian cities are kicking our butts in terms of modernism and architecture.)
I guess the smile w/ a wink isn't a clear enough symbol that my statement was actually written w/ as smile on my face. Oh, and by the way take a good look at some of the buildings going up in Asia. As a Pulizter Prize winning Arch. critic here in Chi said some of their buildings are just plain 'ridiculous', e.i. Shanghai.
I look at Dubai and wonder to myself what largley out of place building is next.
