Macon is not Columbus biggest competition, there's no doubt that Columbus blows out Macon. Columbus biggest competition is Tallahassee, Florida and Montgomery, Alabama. Both are state capitals and are surrounding Columbus. All three cities are similar in city and metro population.

But Augusta doesn't compete with Atlanta on anything and never will. What he is saying is that Columbus competes with/looks to Tallahassee and Montgomery as competition since all of the cities are similar in population/size.

Duh, Because it was consolidated...Nothing you have stated about Columbus put it no more ahead of Macon or any other city in GA; When Columbus has started to Experience exposive growth, gain thousands of jobs and develop a DT and city feel of a 180 plus POP city and etc. then you could talk to me other wise i care less to see you try to put Columbus on some sort of petals with your little scraping the barrel events, topics and minor city gains.

Columbus became consolidated in 1971,before that Columbus already over 155,000+ people living in the city.

1960
116,000+

1970
155,000+

1971
Became Consolidated

1980
169,000+

And you stupid if you think Columbus became consolidated for population growth. Clearly not. Columbus became consolidated because of the needing of land mass. Now Augusta on the other hand became consolidated because it need more Pop.
