My opinion is: it's a cultural thing, too many blacks/Hispanics and white trash included focus or glorify the bad things in this world as "cool" and this eventually holds them down. Moving from the "hood" to the suburbs is not selling out, it's saving your life.
1. Being a gangster is not cool
2. You are not more gangster b/c you live in a rougher neighborhood
3. Using the F-bomb every other word is not cool and not swearing doesn't make you a nerd.
4. Going to school everyday and taking summer school is not lame or nerdy but very smart.
5. Being poor gives you no reason to dress like a homeless man or shoot people or rob people.
6. If you can't find a job create your own and work for your self.
7. The working man is not a fool he is a man who provides for his family and lives to life expectancy.
8. Exercise and eating health doesn't mean you have to be rich to do so.
9. Being materialistic and self centered leaves alone and broke.
10. Stop Blaming others for things that have happened to you and start working through it without shooting someone
11. Going out every weekend and getting drunk is not what your supposed to do.
12. Stop this "Woe is me" attitude and you'll be better off for it.
Our whole society in America glorifies things that shouldn't be glorified but just b/c our society sells the following does not mean you have to buy what our society is selling.
sex
gangs
drugs
pimpin'
fighting
here's is a little saying I like to use:
"If you think everyone is out to get you, then everyone will get you"
or
"If you think the man is holding you down then the man will hold you down"
meaning: only you can control your own destiny, some of us have more bumps in the road to get around but that's life just deal with it. I don't know how many rags to riches stories we need before people actually realize it's up to you to make things happen or work through things that have happened to you.
how many Asians were being lynched in America for having a nice house, nice car , being educated, and being a self sufficient business man.
I don't disagree with what you are saying, but it's 2009 kids being today are born with a lot more opportunities and options than a child in the early 1900's no doubt it was extremely tougher back then for ethnic groups to just live. It comes down to laziness, you can be poor and obey laws and keep you house clean and raise good kids and you don't have to litter b/c your poor. Money is not the solution to the world's problems or your problems it's us.
Milwaukee, actually, the "cream" of Asia is what you see in America. True Asia still resides in Asia - poor, illiterate and still developing.
So why don't we see the cream of blacks or Hispanics in cities in America? you don't need money to be well behaved or to go to school. How many times have you seen people turn down good paying jobs b/c the job was below them or " I don't want to do that". How about doing what you have to do not what you want to do.
My question is in every city in America the worst area and most poor area is Black and the second most poor or dangerous is Hispanic but how and why have Asians bucked this minority trend? Go to the casino in Milwaukee and the high roller tables and rooms are all full of Asians and all engineering/math classes in college are either Indian or Asian. I suppose things are different in LA and SF but in Milwaukee we have a low Asian population but a high black and Hispanic population we have around 50-60,000 Asians. All our Asians for the most part are well educated well mannered and clean orderly people. Even the blue collar Asians have very nice homes and nice yards and you never see a Asian homeless guy in Milwaukee or anywhere else that I have seen. Milwaukee averages around 115-130 homicides even though last year we only had 70, not one Asian was killed or arrested for a homicide.
So if Asians were brought here by the white man to build the railroads and Hispanics immigrated here and blacks were brought here by slavery and all three ethnicity's started from the bottom why haven't Asians fallen into the "trap" that some claim that the man is holding them back and it's a white man's world...well the Asians have progressed and other ethnic backgrounds haven't why? I have seen many poor Asians that take such good care of there house and cars even thought they only make very little money and they are very polite people.
Another thing, I have talked to many immigrant Africans who don't like American black people b/c of the way they act and conduct themselves and I have been asked by people from Africa why are American blacks so violent in America? I have been told by many immigrants from Africa that say "they should be so happy just to be in America they have no reason to be mad and depressed"
So how have Asians Americans advanced and progressed and blacks and Hispanics not ? I'm talking as a whole society. You don't see Asian hoods in every city or Indian thugs on every corner in the hood.
These are all stereotypes, there are more Asian gangs in most parts of California than Black or Mexican gangs. My sister worked for the Mountain View, CA police department and their #1 source of crime was from the Asian gangs, Mexicans (who make up basically the same % as Asians in that city) were barely involved in any of the crime at all.
So why don't we see the cream of blacks or Hispanics in cities in America? you don't need money to be well behaved or to go to school. How many times have you seen people turn down good paying jobs b/c the job was below them or " I don't want to do that". How about doing what you have to do not what you want to do.
Let me put it this way, if this cream of Asia merges back into Asia, they will diffuse into the ocean and it's just the plain ocean, not much of a difference.
Analogically, this is the state of the people you're trying to describe. Their cream is hardly visible in the ocean.
