Wake Forest Innovation Quarter and Grubb Properties have teamed up to develop a residential, retail and parking complex in the Innovation Quarter.
Grubb Properties will develop more than 340 apartment units and about 5,000 square feet of retail space wrapped around a shared parking deck with more than 850 spaces, all on 3.4 acres.
The project will be built on what is now the Innovation Quarter P1 parking lot, between North Patterson Avenue and Chestnut Street adjacent to Wake Forest Biotech Place. Grubb Properties will build the residential and retail aspects of the project on the property through a ground lease with Wake Forest University Health Sciences. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will own the parking deck.
That's a pretty nice looking development for downtown...and a big deal for the city. There is major demand for downtown housing right now and little inventory.
Yes, there are even Rookie leagues. Burlington actually has a team in the Appalachian League (the Burlington Royals). Danville also has the Danville Braves from the same league. Below that, there are also developmental leagues (most of those are in Florida).
There's three levels of Single-A: Short-season A (no teams in NC), Single-A (Greensboro Grasshoppers are an example), and Advanced-A (Winston-Salem Dash are an example). There's also AA (Richmond Flying Squirrels) and then AAA above that (Durham and Charlotte are examples). And then of course, the MLB is above that. I don't think I have to name examples here, as if you don't know you probably couldn't care less about baseball.
I attend Hoppers games but, other than that I don't follow baseball. This was informative.
With expansive multifamily housing planned to begin soon around BB&T Ballpark as well as the Innovation Quarter, and restaurants and retail flourishing in the Arts District around Trade Street, Winston-Salem is poised to become a hip destination for college students, young professionals and older executives looking for convenience.
Interesting. In the span of a year or less, the Triad will go from zero arcade bars to two. Though I would still love to see Dave and Busters make an appearance here. Now that they have begun to focus on smaller regions, it wouldn't surprise me to see something of a mini-location (similar to the one they have in Richmond, which is about 1/3 - 1/2 the size of a standard D&B).

Yes, though I wouldn't call the starting number zero. There are places (Camel City BBQ, for example) that have small scale barcades already. They have skeeball, air hockey, maybe 10 or 12 arcade games, lots of tabletop games, plus bar standards like darts, cornhole, pool, and shuffleboard.
Of course They're also relatively new. But I'm sure there are other examples.

When I was referring to arcade bars, I was referring to bars that specialize in also being an arcade (like Boxcar). While I'll admit that I was not aware of Camel City BBQ (just moved to the Triad about 6 months ago), I will also say that I wasn't really meaning to include restaurants/bars that also happen to have a few arcade games in the facility. Otherwise, I could probably include just about every bowling alley in the Triad (and the United States for that matter) as well.
That said, I'll probably be trying out Camel City BBQ in the relatively near future. I love BBQ and I love arcade games.
ADD: And now that I see that they apparently have a retro Atari system on site, I almost certainly will be trying them out soon.
