Walmart Cherrydale and Harris Teeter Northpointe are running a contest on who can delay the longest.

Harris Teeter has had issues on being stagnant and spectating. It had a store planned at Thornblade Village in the Greer community in the early 1990's. No progress led to another supermarket participant taking over for Harris Teeter. Publix at Thornblade has been successful. Another store location was considered for the southeast quadrant of East Mountain Creek Road and Mountain Creek Church Road. That was met with resistance from Pebble Creek residents in a then-grocery desert. Harris Teeter jumped off the bus after opening store 260, 401 Roper Mountain Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-4230.
Walmart has slowed new store construction after closing many Walmart Express, Walmart Neighborhood Market, Walmart Supercenter, and Sam's Club stores in 2016.

I was kidding around above.
In all fairness HT had different owners back then when they didn't expand locally and made the decision to exit markets in SC and Georgia. They can't do anything until Northpointe gets going and according to the latest work on the development can't start until the road work surrounding it is complete.
Any idea when Aldi will be constructed on North Pleasantburg?
Harris Teeter had different ownership indeed. Under Kroger's ownership, I would not be announcing a re-entry into the market, announce two store locations, not begin construction on either store, and be inactive searching for additional store locations. What is Harris Teeter doing? It has not begun construction on its two announced stores, specifically store 420 at Lewis Plaza, and has not announced any additional store locations. I can understand a delay if Kroger is in the process of acquiring an existing supermarket participant that would have minimal overlap with Harris Teeter. At the present, it seems Harris Teeter has not learned from its first stint.
Aldi at 2902 North Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609-3733, should open later in 2017.
That would be nice. There were some rumours flying around that Aldi would land in Publix's old spot when they move, but Aldi likes stand alone stores, so I don't see that happening.
Here are Aldi's requirements:
±17,000 square feet with a minimum of 85 dedicated parking spaces
• 2.5 acre pads for purchase and development
• End-cap or inline space with minimum of 100’ of frontage
• Signalized, full access intersection preferred
• Dense trade area population within 3 miles
• Sites located in community and regional shopping districts with
convenient access to population
I know three Aldi stores in South Carolina that are in or will be in retail centers. Two of those stores are opening later this month.
Aldi prefers to open freestanding stores. I could see Fairview Road, West Georgia Road, Harrison Bridge Road, Northeast Main Street, and Southeast Main Street as possible locations.
