Golden Chick under construction in the empty lot in front of Publix on Pelham Rd. They opened a store recently in Greenwood. (Sorry TylerSC it's not Popeyes). I thought a gas station was planned for that lot but guess not.

Alvarez Enterprises has filed for a business license with the city of Greenville for a neighborhood supermarket at 505 North Main Street, where the "baby Bi-Lo" recently closed.

oooh... I'm intrigued. Does anyone use the words "neighborhood supermarket" other than WalMart?

Walmart brands their supermarket only stores as "Walmart Neighborhood Market."

Obviously, a neighborhood supermarket would go in where Bi-Lo closed. If more size was needed, I would look into the former Rite Aid space next door. Has anyone noticed any activity in that vacant space?

Question: Alvarez Enterprises is the landlord. Do property owners have to file for the business licenses used by the renters of their space?

I think you're over thinking this. Sounds by the name of it that it will be a Hispanic market

That's exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like an independent. If it is- Good Luck!

Alvarez is name of the landlord not the establishment potentially locating there.

I would suspect what business would be renting the space would be responsible for their business license. As

Supermercado La Unica is a popular Hispanic supermarket with two locations, Wade Hampton Boulevard, Taylors; and White Horse Plaza, White Horse Road, Greenville. I am sure that location would be good for them, but residents in the North Main Street district would prefer someone along the lines of Ingle's and Publix. Unfortunately, there are not locations at the moment to satisfy their needs.
