I noticed a few days ago that Roes on Woodruff, is now Blackstone American Bistro. It looks like they opened a couple weeks ago. I'm not sure if this is just a name change or a whole new restaurant/ownership. The menu looks fairly simple, but the reviews on urbanspoon are all good and the prices look reasonable.
I visited Copperhead Mountain Distillery in Travelers Rest on Tuesday. I'm no expert on moonshine, but the gold rum was good enough to send me home with a bottle! They offer free samples, and are nice folks to chat with. They are two doors down from Carolina Honey Bee Company, another favorite stop. They sell a wide variety of bee-keeping supplies, as well as local honey. I hope people will support these interesting local businesses!

I haven't been but man do 99% of those reviews on urban spoon look like employees/friends of the owner wrote them.
It is funny that every single review is by someone who joined the day they posted the review and has never reviewed anything else.
