And a new BHP Billiton tower in the galleria area.

Lots of building going on these days.

Default New Chevron 50 story tower in downtown

A new 50-story skyscraper is rising in downtown Houston by old YMCA - CultureMap Houston

I like glass buildings. It will match well, but it is a little bit boring except for the bottom portion with the park. At least they did not run to the Woodlands like Exxon!

Chevron already has two towers downtown so it makes sense they would opt for a third there as they already have a significant presence there.

Business must be pretty good if Chevon is building a new 50 stroy tower, when they already own two high rises downtown. Unless the rumors are true that they eventually plan to move their headquarters here, despite the denials.

"There have been rumors for years that Chevron would move its headquarters to Houston, because of the massive talent pool and corporate energy infrastructure in Houston. But Chevron tamped down the rumor Wednesday with a press release stating: “The headquarters of Chevron Corp., the parent company of Chevron U.S.A., will remain in California, where they have been located for more than 130 years.”

I suppose it does look a little "boxy" compared to the other two towers, however, the shiny blue glass will match the other two towers very well so I think it will be a nice looking tower. I'm also glad they're building it downtown. It will be a nice addition to Houston's already impressive skyline!

As far a Chevron moving its headquarters here, if you were the CEO making $20 million per year, would you rather live in Houston or outside of San Francisco?

Although I'd take Houston, because I like warm weather, most people will say San Fran, especially on that kind of money.

That's no knock on Houston at all. Most people with serious money like that would make the same decision.
