There will be bumps up when there is positive news. However, with an expected fall of 25% in GDP, there is no way in hell that stocks revisit the highs of this year- no way.
People said the exact same thing back in 2019 when I said we were going to have a correction in early 2020 that would fry the little grasshoppers. I also said back in 2019 that we would have a deflationary recession starting by July 2020. People called me crazy. Said it was never going to happen. One poster even went as far as betting me 6 or 7 figures that it wasn't going to happen and to "name my price." That poster has since lost well over $1,000,000 in about a month.
The virus was used as an excuse for an extremely over-leveraged economy. The majors cracks were showing back in July-September 2019 when the Fed was doing consecutive rate cuts in the "greatest economy ever" and offering up repo operations for $50+ billion per day. Remember that was supposed to last one week back then. They have continued it to this day and are now executing $1 trillion daily repo operations......
I know it is hard to believe with all of the virus hysteria but this is the way the powers to be operate. They look for/manufacture crises as an excuse to assume powers that THEY would never ordinarily be able to obtain. The central banks got what they wanted out of this. They literally have a hand in everything now and even are pressing for their own digital currency. Never let a good crisis go to waste........
Moonshot in equities is coming. Record easing happening across the board. Hope you are strapped in!
Research the H1N1 vaccine timeline. It went to human clinical testing in July 2009, received FDA approval in September 2009, and was widely available in December 2009. They CAN get it done amazingly quick if they want to badly enough, regardless of how long it normally takes.
I'm sure the FDA is going to try and fast track any potential SARS-CoV-2 vaccine in the pipeline, within reason, but also remember, with H1N1, which is a flu strain, we have been making flu vaccines for what, 70 years before 2009, and so far there has never been a successful coronavirus vaccine ever made to this date. There's still lots of unknowns on whether a successful vaccine can even be made out of the 20+ candidates various companies around the world have created so far.
How brief a run-up are we talking about? And how far "up"? If it's just going to collapse again after a short run-up why bother? Just stay on the sidelines until a real recovery starts. If it's a short run-up it's too iffy trying to get a piece of it ( piece that might not matter much in the end anyway, and barring dumb luck, impossible to get all or most of it.
It you're already out, and out at a good price, Feb 24 or sooner, you already got the gold. Relax.

That's a whole other issue. I'm not saying the candidate will work but that if it does work we CAN move it quickly.

This, 100%. People, when every expert on the block is saying 12-18 months, it's probably going to be 12-18 months.

I've tried to explain this a thousand times already. The trial in Seattle is going to take 14 months. I was deciding if I was going to volunteer. I had a digital copy of the application. It said 14 months. It's not going to happen sooner than this.
Vaccines are far away. The only thing that will shape the course of stocks over the next few months is a successful TREATMENT. That could be something super high-tech like Regeneron's antibodies produced in GMO mice, something conventional like an antiviral drug, or century-old German method of infusing critically ill people with blood plasma of the recovered. Any of these exhibiting success will help steer us back towards normal.
If I ever had COVID-19 and recover, I would volunteer to donate my plasma to the max limit. I'm sure lots of people would.
I thought this thread had something to do with the moon.
