The hypocrisy of those behind the " fight for $15" is astonishing

Unions fought to get a $15 minimum wage passed..

But THEY want to be EXEMPT from the law!
http://m.townhall.com/tipsheet/chris...wages-n2148316

Do any of the pro $15 people here think unions should be exempt from the law?

Now the liberal left wing LA city counsel wants to force business to provide 6 days sick leave on top of doubling the minimum wage. Obviously they want to guarantee that business leave LA
The hatred for job producing business the left wing has is astounding, their to stupid to not cut off taxes they want for all their welfare they like so much.

One big focus of the city now is to have Gender neutral bathrooms ..

Garcetti Pledges Support To Transgender Community « CBS Los Angeles

He said today that other steps are being taken in Los Angeles, including with “our bathrooms in our Rec and Parks facilities — our single bathrooms will now move forward and say ‘gender neutral’ because there shouldn’t have to be a segregation of options based on your identity.”

Not sure if they will be forcing this change on businesses too ... But I wouldn't be surprised ..

Excellent Op-Ed in the L.A Times about why the minimum wage hike is a bad idea

Though well-intentioned, a $15 minimum wage is as bad an idea as Trump's border wall - LA Times

"The Times article had a great little infographic breaking down “Who Gets a Raise” by age and race. Latinos got the biggest share, with 54%. Unfortunately, there wasn't a companion chart showing how many of those Latinos will simply lose their jobs."

"Even California Gov. Jerry Brown understands this. He just doesn't care. When he signed the new minimum-wage law, he proclaimed, “Economically, minimum wages may not make sense. But morally, socially and politically, they make every sense because it binds the community together to make sure parents can take care of their kids.”

This amounts to grotesque cowardice. "

This is the article about it.
6 paid sick days for workers in L.A.? City Council says yes - LA Times

I do think workers should have some sick days, the main reason being it just spreads germs if people come to work sick.
So many times I've been somewhere and the cashier is blowing their nose ,coughing ,etc. If you think of how many people they are coming into contact with ...it's just not a good idea.
Having some paid sick days would encourage people to call out more when they are sick and not spread germs..
Nonetheless it is something employers will have to account for in addition to the minimum wage..as another expense.

I am thinking they should have 2 minimum wage rates. Based on age only; if you are 21 or older, whatever the state sees fit but no less than $12 an hour for high COL states like CA & NY and $10 for others.

Nationwide $7 or $8 /hr for all employees under 21 year of age. This should also allow businesses to hire younger staff while also creating an incentive to keep/hire younger staff.
