I don't think anyone has doubted that the potential is there. Look at the SARS incident that happened on an airplane. Documented evidence that a coronavirus can be transmitted on a plane. You are correct though that the airpline PR will jump on any report proclaiming how safe air travel is in terms of virus protection.

The initial talking point was point out the potential differences between in-person dining and air travel and why they should not be looked at the same when evaluating total risk.

I just don't know how people could think it's more ok to fly in a plane with hundreds of others over eating in a restaurant.

Why come up with open ended thoughts on these contrived scenarios if you don't want to hear people's answers? Attitudes range from wouldn't be caught in either a plane or a restaurant to thinking everything is a hoax. You'll get a range of reasons and justifications, not surprising really.

Data. That's the reason.

And posting random links with nothing relating to the scenario doesn't help you one bit.

No one has said nor implied otherwise. So that's not a relevant point.

Where is the data supporting that flying on a crowded plan is safer than eating at an indoor restaurant.

There have been multiple publications on the issue, including one from the Harvard School of Public Health, showing flying is likely safer than indoor dining or grocery shopping.

I was actually referring to air exchange rate data though, but since you asked...

This article? https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...01b_story.html

Ya'll can fly away then. I wont be going on a plane until this is over. But I will be having my parents over for xmas. The article also says it 'may' post a slighter risk.

I looked over this high risk activity list. It's interesting that amusements parks at the top. Why are they open then?

Dinner parties is in the same category as a an airplane.

Article is from June though, which is ancient knowledge when it comes to anything Covid related. I just find it hard to believe that flying is as risky as a dinner party, darned if I'm wrong though. And no, I do not plan on flying if I can avoid it.
