7:00pm and @MN_Crime on Twitter is reporting there have been 3 carjackings within 30 minutes. There was also a 4th armed robbery, but they didn’t get the car, only the victims wallet.

8:50 pm Edited to add: @CrimeWatchMpls says dispatch updated the number to 6 (in the 5th precinct) since 6:00pm

I would recommend checking out the CommunityCrimeMap dot com website to keep an eye out on the area. There are car thefts happening in that area as well. The reality is that carjackings are happening all throughout the metro area. I live in Shoreview and there was an armed carjacking here in my townhome complex.

This is news to me. I’m closer to the 35W side though so maybe my neighborhood is in the clear?

In MPLS for the month of October, there were 340 reported carjackings plus auto thefts. We are talking in ONE month! https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2021/...ous-to-be-out/

I looked. Back in October 2016, there were around 70 auto thefts (as well as other months were in the same range). See this link for some historical data https://www.minneapolismn.gov/media/...er2016-(2).pdf So auto thefts are up about 500%! WTF is going on?

In May 2021, I visited Portland. OMG! You literally cannot find a road sign that isn't tagged with paint. Re-read that last sentence again because it is true. in fact, every other sidewalk is sprayed and many of the building walls were also tagged. Everywhere we walked many businesses in downtown Portland still had plywood over their windows. And many were empty or still closed. I will never step foot in that city again. Human crap on the streets (unless dogs use TP) and urine smell all over the place. Yuck!

Since I saw that, I won't visit Downtown MPLS. I've erased it from any option for any reason. Why take the risk? I know other people who are on the same page. So my question is, how is the local DT business doing? Are other people coming back from the suburbs to visit or are they staying away too? Hopefully, it doesn't look like DT Portland. That place is officially a craphole!

It’s gotten especially bad in Minneapolis but the reality is that it is part of a national trend that began during the pandemic.

Why carjackings have skyrocketed in parts of the country during the pandemic

I am sure it is all those "white supremacists" we keep hearing about from the elites, and Cruz Azul Guy.

From your link:
"But Chicago is neither the only nor the worst example of this disturbing crime trend. Minneapolis police report that carjackings there have shot up 537% this year. Carjacking calls to 911 in New Orleans are up 126%. Oakland police cite an increase of 38%. "

Thanks for sharing. For starters, look at the towns they are comparing it to. Chicago, Oakland, and New Orleans? Not good. Carjackings in Chicago has a run-rate of 1500 or 125 a month. Read https://wgntv.com/news/wgn-investiga...ing-more-kids/

But they have 2.7M people. MPLS has 0.42M. Therefore, MPLS is about 15% of the size. 537% is a staggering (lawlessness) problem. So the question is why?

Pick your color (purple, black, green). A thug is a thug and they are (statistically speaking) not able to be rehabilitated in society.
Forget punishing crime with capital punishment and the electric chair, Minneapolis might need electric bleachers. OMG is it out of control! I feel for people who live in MPLS. I'd be fleeing to the Burbs as fast as I could.

I've seen videos of the thugs who are doing all these car jackings, and I can assure you, they aren't "white supremacists". I also watch the news every day and we average about one or two (some times three) homicides a week here in the TC and again, the vast majority of the homicides carried out in this entire state are not "white supremacists".

But but but..."white supremacism"!

Boston demographics, for example, are comparable to Minneapolis yet carjackings are so rare one would be on the news for a week at the very least if it does happen. Both cities are fringe leftie bedlams bit only one has gone full defundie, and the results are speaking for themselves.
