If you are planning on seeing it, do not leave when the credits start playing. There's a critical scene that comes on after the first few pages of credits, and then a telling animation plays out during the remainder of the credits. Overall, it was a pretty good movie.

I left after the short scene during the credits. What does the remainder of the credit shows? If you post that here within spoiler tags, it would be great.

SPOILER

You probably got the gist of it without sitting through the credits. It showed the standard flight pattern graphic, to convey that the deadly virus spreads around the world thanks to the neighbor who is a pilot. So now we know why mankind dies out.

Easily the best Planet of the Apes film since the 1968 original -- not that that should have been too difficult to accomplish with all of the lackluster sequels.

I enjoyed this movie a lot.

-SPOILERS-

Yeah this movie is a prequel/reboot.

The humans die out due to the virus.
The enhanced chimps fill in the void to become the dominant specie.

The space shuttle that they showed during the movie(Which had nothing to do with this movie itself) will return to earth and find chimps have taken over the world.

And that is how the original movie starts!

!
In the original, humans hadn't died out but had lost the ability to speak and been reduced to barbarism.
