Early reviewers are saying this is a stinker. Very disappointing. I was hoping Scott got his groove back. But this looks like it's going to be another in a long list of visually spectacular bad movies from Ridley Scott.
Aliens was the best movie. Ripley was a great character. What's the problem you got a Ripley and aliens add some wiseass space marines and have a big space battle. What's the problem. They're over-thinking the whole thing make a fun movie dammit.

My friend saw it and said...don't bother. I was crushed to hear that. I really wanted this one to be good. Guess it will be a rental.

Thanks for the heads up. I wont even bother, it really didn't look worth the trouble. I think they really just need to leave the series alone, some films weren't meant to be reworked again and again, this ones seems to be one that was as great as it ever will have gotten about five films back.
Folks, it's an Alien movie. We already know what is going to happen. Why are you looking for something different?
Not true at all. ALIEN and ALIENS both had characters we cared about, great pacing, thrilling conflict, etc. The other ALIEN movies simply didn't. Looks like this one doesn't either. And we have to suffer through Danny McBride to boot.
Folks, it's an Alien movie. We already know what is going to happen. Why are you looking for something different?
Well, I was looking more for an Engineer/Space Jockey movie. Some closure, some more questions raised. Not a rehash of what we have seen with a bunch of characters we don't care about running around making bad decisions, screaming and dying.
Prometheus was the best of all. Made the others look a bit simplistic and predictable in retrospect.
