I think it should be regulated like the DMV, but so far there's no requirement for training, and I'm not sure that the law enforcement community and government would want to provide such training to civilians. So if CC is actually approved in NJ, you have to keep an eye out not just for the criminals, but for other civilians who may decide to play hero and have a gun on them, who may not know which end of the gun the bullet comes out of and know how far a bullet can travel after it passes through a human body at point blank range. I know this may sound somewhat hysterical but it's a valid concern IMO.
for a carry permit, i would accept a reasonable training requirement as a compromise. but right now, nj not issuing carry permits is a violation of constitutionally protected rights. hopefully the courts will intervene.

The vehicle, and stolen cash was never recovered by the police . By the time cops arrived, damage had already been done. We cant live in fear of criminals as law abiding residents. Some of you here may call this paranoia. But after speaking to a victim of robbery, it only takes just once to feel this way. .
The car was insured. To carry more then a few dollars is a personal preference.
Unless you are very familiar with your gun, your capabilities and prepared to shoot to kill you are likely to end up with a bigger problem then a robbery. Heroic self defense scenes and reality hardly ever meet.

Are you ready to look at someone and pull the trigger because he is a thug in your eyes? There was something along the line of ... until proven guilty ... .

When's the last time a criminal murdering or raping someone thought twice? Keep living in lala land with your ideas. Many people have defended themselves with guns but it's not televised on news.

Other countries ? Not many have the choice due to communist and tyrant government. .NJ has extreme laws with guns , maybe you need to educate yourself a bit.

Whats your point. The statement I made is from life experience. If you know me and my position you would know that I believe that 25% of the people serving as police officers shouldn't be one. I don't make the rules.

So tell me all about your tactical training in dealing with an armed adversary or adversaries and protecting your family at the same time. I've interviewed many a suspect that said all I wanted was their money or their car. If they would have given their stuff up, things wouldn't have gone bad.

how nice of you to want to give your "suspects" exactly what they want. im not a big fan of accommodating criminals by ensuring their victims aren't able to protect themselves. i want to have a fighting chance and you don't have the right to stop me.

Really?

NJ holds qualifications and requalifications semi-annually for all police officers. Officers must score at least 80 percent on each segment of the course to qualify. This was upped from 70 percent to 80 percent fairly recently.
