Still waiting to hear back from compliance. Been almost 3 weeks. Emailed a few times this week. Think I should be nervous? Any word from HPD Lady Gaga?
At this point, no news is good news. They can't approve you until everything is ready for a lease to be signed. If they were going to reject you, they'd do it immediately. I know it's hard (I waited nearly a year in another lottery), but just need patience.
Of course as soon as I wrote the above I heard back that they have had a huge number of interviews lately and are just backlogged; still working on my file.
I got the official word. This project is behind. Best case scenario for move-ins is summer. And that's what they're hoping for, for market tenants! They really don't know when subsidized units will be available. Your file might be with BG compliance, but it's going to sit there until there's movement on the building. And if it's more than 120 days, which seems likely, you'll have to resubmit all documents. I know it's hard, but try to focus on something else. This was a pretty grueling vetting process, so if you've made it through that, consider it an accomplishment.
Yea, we all want to know! Or PM me as well! Also my understanding is that lottery tenants are scattered in the project and they move in simultaneously with market tenants. Is that incorrect? Ladygaga1, still no word from HPD? I would take a late move-in date...if I knew my place was assured.

Nothing is assured until you 1) sign a lease 2) get the key 3) use said key to open door and 4) place an item of personal property within the apt. Until then, they can and will disqualify anyone in a heartbeat. As I've mentioned, take the radio silence as a positive sign. If they were going to disqualify you, they'd do it quickly so as to move onto other applicants. Instead, if they intend on approving you, they can't do anything until everything is 100% certain and the building is ready for you. Hence the radio silence. Honestly, it's best to take your mind off this for a few months. Once you've confirmed they have everything they need for now, take up a new hobby, apply to other lotteries, watch Netflix, find some new boyfriend/girlfriend to hang out with- anything just to get your mind off the process for a few months. That is my best advice. Feel free to check in with them, say, monthly. But they will reach out to you if they need anything.
