Good luck to good citizens who deserve police protection. You’re no longer going to get it.

Hopefully O'Neill will take the recommendation and this will bring the Garner family some solace with regards to their loss. As someone who lives in the city I recognize firing Panteleo doesn't resolve the bigger issue - one of a systemic problem which if not changed will be repeated. The officer learned a technique in the academy which he believes is a legal move, the move is largely characterized as an illegal move that should have been removed from the training after the death of Bumpers(?) in the 90s. The only way the young officer could have picked up those moves (and his fellow officer standby while he uses it) is if he seen it somewhere before ... like say in training.

By actually removing the system issue .... this keeps the city safe from having to protect against litigation, ensures the officer are actually safe as well as the community as they deal with irrational players, and doesn't allow blow-hards like pat lynch and al sharpton to chum the racial waters.

Recommended to be fired for doing his job. Thanks leftists.

Solace in their loss? Eric Garner was a dead beat dad who spread his seed to multiple skanks. He was the epitome of a waste of space in a civilized society. Literally the only good thing he ever did was dying from being a fat bastard scoring his "family" an unwarranted money windfall while they continue to live off the tax payer dime in public housing.

Imagine being worthless trash and getting killed due to my own worthless trash actions and worthless trash health and getting my family paid because of all of my worthless trashiness. His poor family has to go on the news, stand next to the devil known as sharpton and put on an act like they actually miss him. Hopefully they use the money properly and get outta the hood. Doubt it. Wish the best for this officer. Hopefully he keeps his job and chokes out the rest of the trash in and around that park. What an eye sore that area has always been.

GOOD!!!!

JOYFUL JOYFUL JOY!!!!

He should’ve BEEN fired

You don’t put anyone in a illegal lethal chokehold when not only are they surrendering for arrest but are telling you they can’t breathe. You also don’t go after someone in such aggressive manner for simply selling cigarettes

the medical examination stated that he was killed due to the chokehold, there was no underlying COD

O’Neil needs to fire his ass immediately

Let today be a pivotal teaching moment to those who believe they can use their badge to hide behind the blue walls of the law

his family has shown over the course of the years that he was a viable part of the family and he is missed - and so yes I want them to find peace. Your moral judgement does not change that fact.

Police officers job is not to kill people in their interactions with them during the shift - last I checked the simple edict of the job was to 'protect and serve' the community (I believe when they do that - that's what makes them NYC's Finest). My comment was far from a 'leftist' approach and was closer to a centerist approach with fiscal conservative overtones....if you are going to be a bully with your words use the right words cause your ham-handed use of the L-word might bruise my delicate republican sensibilities

doesn’t matter what you think of the man, he was killed for a petty offense. NYPD f**ked up and you all know that

we have a mayor who believes, like many, that NYPD should be held accountable for their actions for they seem to believe the law doesn’t apply to them, and some of you are pissed af because of it
