It's ALREADY been hard. Just put your head down and barrel through. It's a week out of your entire life and you can endure it. You have made your decision, the end.
Which part is going to be hard? The actual leave-taking? Or the trip itself?
What have you told your parents so far?
2 finals, lucky me I get to take them home to do them! 2 at school, a Senior presentation tomorrow night, the last 3-4 hours of my internship by May 2nd. All of which still need done.
But, yes I decided to get a rental, cheapy one, but that's as far as it goes.

Yep, and maybe, after this things will be different.

Sounds tough, but you can get through this week. You've gotten through tough finals weeks before and will get it all done this time. If your parents bug you at home, stay at school or go to a coffee shop to work.
If the rental makes you feel secure, it was a good idea.
I'm looking forward to hearing reports from the road in a couple of weeks.

Yeah. I got two finals done already.
Just gotta secure that rental car then. Making that move, it is kinda scary. But screw it I've seen more terrifying.
Good luck OP! I did something similar when I was 22 - I went to law school 2,000 miles away. In a city I had never been to and where I did not know one soul. Luckily I didn't have issues with the parental units. My mom was fully supportive and my dad was, well, too busy being a narcissist to really care :P. What I do want to say is that I agree with the other posters who said that you really will always wonder if you don't. I ended up leaving my new city after 5ish years for a career opportunity (to yet another new city) but I walked away with such a phenomenal experience and it gave me a lot of confidence in exploring new parts of the country/world. Don't let the parents hold you back. They will come around.

You got this, kid. Just keep taking steps to get it done and before you know it you'll be cruising down the highway listening to your favorite music and wondering why you were ever afraid.

Amen! What a feeling! DK, this is the kind of joyful freedom that comes only a few times in life, and typically only in your 20s. Enjoy! Make some memories.
