Why in the world is a 40 year old asking his friends for cash?? The only gift I give my adult friends is a bottle of wine or take them out for drinks or dinner. I would not bring a gift other than his favorite beverage..bottle of wine, liquor or a cold pak.

Is this person throwing himself a party? Rude again.
You aren't obliged to give a gift.
If you can't afford the clothes and would feel out of place with just the white shirt, then decline the invitation. I would.
Or you could be a smartass and wear your white shirt with a pair of white boxers or sweats from Walgreens.
It's not like you'll be the rudest person at the party. Sounds like the guest of honor/host wins that title.
Yes I was saying I never heard anyone throwing their own birthday party and thought it was kind of weird. And the request for cash made it even more weird and hope he is not looking foolish tomorrow because only a few people showed up.
I'm going to send him a message on facebook to call me so I can find out how important is this attire to be all white because I don't have it in my budget
Exactly how did the invitation read? Is he really demanding a gift?

It says a all white bash for my 40th birthday party and please no sneaks.
Preferred gift-cash
