You leave out a lot of important details in your posts. The way you made it sound, you haven't heard heads or tails of this dude for the past 10 years.
Whatever. You made your decision.
Yep. This is the first we've heard they talk "everyDay".
Why the hemming and hawing with "I dunno what to wear, what to do about money, etc etc' making it sound like this man is harder to contact than the Queen, when you could have brought it up with him in the literal dozens of conversations before the party?
Why would you need to inbox him you number and ask him to call you, if you do, in fact, speak every day? He'd have your number, no?
Why didn't you mentioned, probably on the page 1 or 2 of this thread, that you speak with him every day, when people were trying to establish how close of a relationship the two of you have?

Very curious indeed.
You're fairly new to all of FBJ's dramas/dilemmas. He does whatever he can to wiggle out of social events, with excuses like," I have nothing to wear, I don't go out when it's raining, I don't go out when it's humid, I don't go out when it's snowing, I don't go out on a Friday night, because I'm too tired at the end of the work week, I don't go out when a basketball/football game is on TV." In other words, he didn't plan on attending the party before he starting this thread.
I'm sure with my height being 6'6 and weighing 300 pounds I would not find anything at a thrift shop.
I hear you, my husband is extremely broad shouldered and has trouble finding shirts that fit him properly. All white clothes party...sounds odd to me. What would happen if you showed up in a white shirt & jeans, or dress pants? Would they kick you out?

For my 50th, I specifically said "no presents" but some people brought gag gifts. Black flowers, a hot water bag, denture cream, black roses - it was funny. I think it's tacky to request anything.
I've been to a couple white parties and while most people were in all white, there were splashes of other colors thrown in.
Nobody looks at what the men are wearing anyway.
Wear your white top and some nice slacks and have a good time.
