Hot. Temperatures in the upper mid 80's. Dry. The wind sucks the moisture right out of the garden. I think it will be a good one this year. The apples are already forming on the trees, and we have bees. Yep, real bees. If half the peach blossoms bear fruit, we will have a bounty.

Two years ago, early May was still a time when we were waiting for late spring to arrive. This year, it's already feeling like summer. We got just enough dampening down in the Rogue Valley yesterday to forestall an early start to the fire season. The garden is starting to look very good. Should be a great tomato year.

Normal monthly rain here this time of year is about 2 to 3 inches or more for January, February, March, and April. This year we are averageing 1 to 1 1/2 inches a month.

It's been somewhat rainy and cool, here in the south. But predictions are for 90's by Sunday. I have a feeling this summer will be HOT. We were blessed with two mild summers the last two years. I think that run is over and we are in for scorchers.
