The stops from Downtown to the I-Drive/Tourist corridor could certainly benefits locals as well, after all it is locals that staff the parks, restaurants, shops and attractions. If the line could run up Orange Ave. into downtown much like Sunrail does now that gives a pretty large number of locals the ability to use the train to employment in the tourist areas or airport. This would not address everyone's needs, but many young people who work in the service industry could use the train to get to jobs in that area and downtown. Or they could consider a line that comes up I-Drive and than west onto 408 passing by the Citrus Bowl and into downtown. This could help the low income residents in that area get to and from jobs in downtown, I-drive, and the airport. To think that it would have no benefit to locals is short sighted if and when we're willing to plan the system to benefit both locals and visitors.

The focus should be getting UberX POOL and Lyft Line and allowing them to drop/pickup from MCO.

To expect a rail system to cater to residents alone would be unrealistic. The cost of putting in a system that doesn't run parallel to I-4 or the 408 would be staggering with land acquisition alone.

It's Mears, which is so overly priced. It costs $18 from Dr Phillips to MCO with UberX, which if you type Orlando international airport, it works on the app. However, nothing works to get picked up. Mears charges like $50-55 plus tip to Dr Phillips.

Casting MCO aside, we still don't have UberX Pool or Lyft Line, which is 25-50% cheaper than UberX or Lyft.

Yes. It is fairly unrealistic, which is why we do not have a functioning public transit system.

SunRail is not our answer. To fund and develop it will leave less of a possibility of an actual transit system in the future.

We realistically are not capable of moving the largest university, the airport, or WDW.
We're stuck.

What should be Transit System of the Future? Where should rail be set up?

Should that really be the focus for long term? individual cars and app taxi services? That is the best answer for Orlando?

Personally I think that is where we need to start. It does no good having something like Sunrail when once you get off at most stations you are then stuck there. If you could go to Sand Lake Station and then go to Florida Mall for $3 on UberX Pool, it makes the terrible locations of most Sunrail stations not as bad or if you could get off and take a $3 Uber to the office, it makes it a more viable alternative to sitting in traffic.
