thanks, beachmel, for making us think. I really do believe that some kids are just "bad" and it isn't the fault of the parents. I do hope they get the help they need, and I hope he isn't beyond help.

I appreciate you pointing out that there is more to this.
Yes. It would be one thing if she said he has mental health issues. Posters can't read minds and don't know that.

I am not sure how CPS works, but isn't there a way you can call them and set up a meeting with them, your son and your son's teacher? All of you sit down together and discuss what is going on and how to get a handle on it and explain to your son that lacking designer clothing does not equate going without and that him calling CPS for such things is taking their time away from real child abuse problems that are going on? Maybe take him to a local victims shelter and show him what REAL abuse is like

EDIT: Wait- CRAP!! I just realized who the OP is. There are some major issues going on in your home as you are ALWAYS talking down both of your foster kids. I haven't ever seen a positive post about them from you, ever. I am not even going to say what I truly think, but those kids need someone on their side...

I myself can not stand winter coats. I do the hoodie thing too and have since I was a kid (now am 32yrs old) My twin brother doesn't even own any pants and still to this day wears shorts all through winter as did I up until just a few years ago.

I don't know why most of this thread has been about speculation on the OP's personal issues.

Back to the topic: I really learned something reading about kids and their clothing preferences. I had no idea that so many kids were not dressing "appropriately" for the weather. I think any mother would be concerned about that and might not necessarily know what is "normal" in this area.

Did any of you have to fight with your mothers about dressing appropriately? I know, I did...and I lost every time!

Because she posts a lot and many of us are familiar with issues her family has had in the past. She's put a lot of "personal issues" out there and has asked for advice.

Beachmel was nice enough to clue us in on a few things that will help all of us (hopefully) give Marylee advice in the future.

I saw what Beachmel posted, however, if you knew your kid has severe mental issues and whatever else she supposedly ISN'T sharing, would you send him off to the store alone? I am sorry, but something doesn't smell right if you ask me

This isn't a 6 year old kid..... You know, this attitude right here? This attitude is why this child and his family are suffering so bad.
