how flexible? i just ran a couple of flights and the only way im getting saver is either by not traveling weekends or by having stopovers.
i just ran my upcoming trip to aruba next year. $3,278.24 cost if value points at 1 penny. cost if paid cash, $2,144,24. so substantially less then 1 cent per point. it kind of makes you angry that the standard fares are such a crappy value.
it would be 2185.00 based on the 1.50 sapphire multiplier . but with the sapphire many of those points could have been at 3% or even 5% in some categories if you transfer points .
most of our daily expenses are at 1.50% on the unlimited then boosted by 50% to 2.25% . it makes a big difference in net cost in dollar terms when they are getting boosted . .

AmEx Everyday for Gas and groceries
Chase Amazon card for Amazon
I wish the Barclaycard Sallae Mae was still around. That was probably the best card at 5% for Gas, Groceries, and Amazon.
That is very similar to how I do it in my OP. Yes, I had that Sallie Mae card too until they dropped that card and switched it to some generic card I had never heard of with only 2% back on groceries. That's when I started using my AmEx Everyday card for groceries. Only 3% back, but better than any others I have found.
chase ink is reviewing my application. this happened last time i got the card and was one reason why i got the spg card instead this time. i have too much credit available across my chase cards. they will probably make me divide up my chase credit between my cards.
chase ink rejected me. i called them and gave the guy the business but the rejection stands. recently i got an $82 medical bill that i overlooked sent to collections. i paid but they havent marked it as paid in my report. so i called them up so they can mark it paid. those jerks!
currently im using an amex spg for this spending. i just feel like the ultimate rewards points are better because they are more flexible. we are doing some advertising online, mostly indeed.com. hopefully that qualifies for the 3x points.

So they approved your JP Morgan Reserve application, but rejected the Business Ink application? No flexibility I guess.
we were pretty surprised we got on the spot approval especially because we no longer have jobs ..... i thought they would at last look in to us . but nope , instantly we got a 30k credit limit on it

30k? Good job. Maybe you guys made a lot of money not too long ago or maybe you guys have plenty of assets that they could liquidate if they need to.
yes we do have assets but nothing they would see. our credit scores are in the 800's and this is the 3rd year retired with only social security checks coming in as of last week
