I tried looking at your attachments and they wouldn't open. I would love to see the pictures. I am trying to gather information on my grandparents restaurants, The Flame (AZ & MN) and The Flamette. I remember hearing such wonderful stories when I was younger. I married and moved from Duluth. Without the use of my maiden name and being away from the area I haven't heard many stories in the past 20 years. Not many close relatives alive anymore to tell me stories. I would love to hear any stories you may have of The Flame. Thank you for your post.

Thank you for posting. The Flame was my grandparents restaurant. I am searching for stories. I appreciated finding yours! I do not know what happened to the birds or the monkies either...I did hear that my dad and his twin brother had a pet monkey at one time!

Posting images is not coming easily. Hope this image comes through.
Helsing's coffee shop located at Central and Osborn very popular in the 1950's and 1960's. A Walgreen sits at this location now.

Default How Did That Get There?

Over the weekend I had an occasion to wear a sport coat and tie. When I pulled the wood hanger with jacket out of the closet I took a good look at the hanger,

Arizona Manor Hotel, how did that get there??

As I recall the AZM was at 24th and Camelback, N/W corner. It wrapped around the gas station (Atlantic Richfield). Pretty odd, as I do not think I ever went there and it has been gone for years. Make you go hummmmmmmmmmmmmm?

My sister met her husband at the Arizona Manor, where he was a bartender at the time. You have the location correct. Maybe a house guest left the hanger there who knows how long ago, or it found its way to you in a garage sale or storing someone's stuff, or.....
