I know...trivial.
Used to help w/trail rides and chuck wagon dinners at night. Wrangler was named Slim Striker. Can't believe it's a menagerie of box stores now. Lucky to have lived in old Scottsdale & PV

I posted this on the Vintage Phoenix site, it is taken from my 1954 high school yearbook from West High.
These peeps are still my friends today after 60+ years.

I graduated from West High in the 50's and these were the favorite hang outs for the local car clubs

Anybody remember??
Hello there high school friend. I graduated in 1955 from West and I hung out at Three Palms.

Three Palms had three palm trees, a date palm in front and 2 fan palms in back. Amazing how many people wondered why it was called that when it is obvious. They had a tall vertical sign on the top of the building and they forgot the 'E' on Drive In. They specialized in all kinds of sandwiches and carried Gold Ribbon ice cream.

The Palms Theater had the same question; in that case there must have been a dozen palm trees lining each side of the theater!.

The Zombie was $1 (one quart of ice cream, bananas, 5 diff. fruits plus nuts) and the Sissy Zombie was 50¢ at the Polar Bar.

Default Uncle Albert's and "David Dodt and the Hi-Fis" Update

I remember Uncle Alberts. Actually it was Dave Leahy who played there first as the "Uncle Albert's Band", then David Dodt joined for a while. Dave Leahy opened a bar on McDowell Rd and Miller Rd in Scottsdale. His band there was called the "Lonnegan's Band."

I started playing keyboards in the "Lonnegan's Band" a few years later in 1978. All of this was in the 70s.
David Dodt took over at Lonnegan's and we took the name "Lonnegan's Band" (without Leahy.)

We didn't become "David Dodt and the Hi-Fis" until the 80s. We never played at Uncle Albert's but we did play at the South Mountain Pointe a lot.

Just a little ancient history if anybody remembers or cares! I don't live in Phoenix anymore but I know David is still playing around town.
