Sure, but not the way there are in Philly. CC sucks the oxygen from the rest of the city getting anything of substance.

Downtown has not taken away from the attention those city Neighborhoods I've listed receives, and more Neighborhood are starting to come online as far as initiatives for revitalization focus. The West End to name one as well I think soon Allentown will start to get some political focus as it seems to be feeding off South Side and Mt Washington momentum, not there yet but its grass roots right now.

It takes two last time I checked. Don't like don't come into the thread, that simple.

Don't start getting all authoritative and pompous about it. It's a public forum.

Philadelphia has no money for initiatives. downtown isn't sucking oxygen away from anyone,
development is moving perhaps more rapidly in neighborhoods where small scale (read non-union) construction is possible

and even in places long ago left for dead such as francsville (in decline since the race riots in the 60's), north philly, and kensington

you can criticize rendell all you want for gambling on center city when the street had its brush with bankruptcy back in '92 but he was right. development has spread in concentric waves out from center city over the last 15 years. add to it the powerful force that is Upenn has completely transformed huge swaths of university city and now drexel is doing the same around 30th st station and temple on north broad...to say nothing of plans for far south philly

as an aside, did you know that the man francsiville was named for was the same man who handled selling off the initial parcels of land in Pittsburgh for the Penn family?

Just so you know this always happens when Die-hard Philadelphia homers try to come into the Pittsburgh forum and lay the so-called "smackdown" on the Burgh without having their Sh*T together. As Summer often does.
Since the end of the time period covered in your chart, Pittsburgh's metro GDP has grown at a faster rate than Philadelphia's as opposed to the opposite outcome for the time period you used. Now I realize that handing out smackdowns and being an internet tough guy is time-consuming. But maybe you can take a minute from your busy schedule and look up the GDP data for 2010 and 2011 and add them to your graphic. The pointlessness and incoherence of the Pittsburgh vs Philadelphia debate notwithstanding, you're better off including data from those years since you are arguing that Pittsburgh's GDP is "NOT that far" from Philadelphia's. You're welcome.

This thread is hilarious. In fact it gives a bigger comedic fix than Leno or Letterman. Pittsburgh is better than Philly in your dreams...Pittsburgh never had the arts scene or urban character Philly does and downtown Pittsburgh is more lifeless than Philly's suburbs.

NB: I've only had the sour cream, and it is my favorite brand.
EDIT: The BL does have the stabilizers. It's another brand, Daisy, that is without. But BL is very nice on top of chili.

Blackbeauty. I know I posted this before but you can't seem to understand or comprehend a thing anyone from Philadelphia says due to your pure hatred for Philadelphia. Do you understand that things have changed? Just in the past 10 years Philadelphia has revitalized itself faster than any city aside from D.C.

Here is a list of areas in Philadelphia proper that are not ghetto:

Center City
No point in listing neighborhood names here... you get the point

South Philadelphia
Graduate Hospital (Southwest Center City or South of South)
Hawthorne
Bella Vista
Queen Village
Pennsport
Wharton
Italian Market
Passyunk Square
East Passyunk Crossing
Whitman
Moyamensing
Girard Estate/Wilson Park
Marconi Plaza
Sports Complex
Packer Park
The Navy Yard (being revitalized)
Newbold (being gentrified)
Dickinson Narrows (being gentrified)
Point Breeze (being gentrified)
West Passyunk (being gentrified)
Grays Ferry (early stages of gentrification occurring)

West Philadelphia
University City
Powelton Village

Overbrook (parts middle class, other parts lower class)
Haddington (parts middle class, other parts lower class)
Cobbs Creek (parts middle class, other parts lower class)
East Parkside (parts middle class, other parts lower class)
West Parkside (parts middle class, other parts lower class)
Walnut Hill (being gentrified)
Mantua (being gentrified)
West Powelton (being gentrified)
Dunlap (being gentrified)

North Central (eastern portion being gentrified)

Riverwards
Fishtown
Kensington (being gentrified, other portions working class)
Port Richmond (middle class and working class)
Bridesburg (middle class and working class)

Upper North Philadelphia
East Oak Lane
West Oak Lane
Stenton
Temple Hospital area (being gentrified)
Logan (parts middle class, parts working class, parts lower class)
Olney (though it has declined, there are areas still middle class and working class)
Fern Rock (working class)
Ogontz (working class)

Northwest Philadelphia
Manayunk
Chestnut Hill
Germantown (West Germantown and Penn-Knox are middle class, East Germantown is lower class)

East Mt. Airy
West Mt. Airy

Northeast Philadelphia
The entirety of Northeast Philadelphia is nice save for Frankford, Oxford Circle, Castor Gardens, Juniata Park, parts of Wissanoming, parts of Lawncrest

Riverwards
Parts of Kensington

Northeast Philadelphia

Parts of Lawncrest

If you want to bash Philadelphia in the future, at least know what you are talking about.
