Because his last name is Ceoffe.

I think that's definitely true of a few posts in this thread written by brand new accounts. My internet BS detector was going crazy ("and dedication is why my vote goes to Ceoffe!!").

Even though I voted for Ceoffe and wasn't surprised he didn't win, I was expecting the results to be a lot closer than they actually were, especially with all the Ceoffe signs I have seen in Lawrenceville and Bloomfield.

I was also surprised by the margin of victory. Guess there's no fighting that (D) next to a name, it gets you too many insta-votes.

Are there any elected officials in the City that aren't Democrats?

Did Josh Wander win? I forgot to look at the results.

There's probably a Republican Inspector of Elections in Overbrook or something.

The vast majority of my voting friends hated Ceoffe for the reasons stated previously (ties to Ravenstahl, whining about not being the nominee, etc). Maybe they just aren't really the sign-planting types.

According to the Republican Committee of Pittsburgh's website, there aren't any Republicans at least. I suppose there may be a third party or independent lurking somewhere, but probably not.

Judging from their rather unprofessional web presence, the Republican party in Pittsburgh seems to be pretty inactive and poorly funded.

As you would expect.

Little point in throwing good money after bad, the last Republican mayor was elected in the early 1930's.
The chances this year were nil and they of course knew it.

The last time the Republican Party actually funded a candidate for mayor was in 1969 and John Tabor lost by 30 points to Pete Flaherty.
