Actually, Pittsburgh is NOT Going to the Super Bowl.
The Steelers are going to the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh isn't going anywhere.

I agree that Pittsburgh is more than just Steelers. I think we definitely take our love of the Steelers too far sometimes. I am a fan of them, but i don't need to watch every single game and i also don't let it take over my life if they lose.

The local TV news is the worst. Even with big news happening, they will lead with Steeler stories every night until the Super Bowl. And the inanity of some of the stories is mind-numbing: someone has a Steeler dog all dressed up, someone who has their whole house decorated in black and gold, Big Ben might have a hang nail (waiting for press conference for a comment from Tomlin).

You can bet the farm that the EXACT same stuff is going on in AZ and it goes on in any town that has their football team in the Super Bowl.

Not so much in Phoenix, the team is not regarded in religious like fashion as it is here in Pittsburgh.

They've only been there for 20 years and a lot of their fans are transplants. I was at the game last year at the new stadium. The fans were very friendly and not the usual drunken slobs that too many Pghers are. I tend to think the most rabid fans are those in industrial or post-industrial towns. There is so much to do in AZ that the Cardinals aren't on top of the list.

You may be right however, get them closer to game time and let's see.

I lived in Tucson for two years and discovered that there are 2 seasons........HOT & HOTTER!(and Phoenix is WORSE!) I quickly discovered that I AM NOT a desert guy! "So much to do in AZ"???? As long as it involves AIR-CONDITIONING.

Good article in this morning's Post-Gazette TV section. There's no way to escape it - WTAE even broke in with a "Breaking News" special report on Sunday night to say 'em 'ere Stillers won. So of course it screwed up the show that people were watching on ABC. Didn't the management at WTAE even think that some people were watching their station to get away from Stiller hype? It's non-stop, and it's only going to be worse this coming week.

I just read that article. It's ludicrous for WTAE to think that people watching that station at the same time the Steelers were playing wanted their show interrupted by "breaking" Steelers news. Obviously, if they wanted to see the Steelers they would have been watching the Steelers. And WTAE had no courtesy for those DVR'ing the show while watching the game.

The news stations up here are RIDICULOUS about hyping the Steelers. As someone not from Pittsburgh, let me say that tv stations in other cities do not hype their local team to this degree. Sure the Steelers are in the Super Bowl...but these stations over-hype the Steelers all-season long. I really don't want to have to sit through the "Black and Gold Zone" before they even get to the weather report. But for the most part, the news stations are just giving Pittsburghers what they want....Steelers, Steelers and more Steelers.

I love football , I like the players on the team, and I like Tomlin. When I first moved up here I really thought I could convert to a Steeler fan. They are a great organziation. I WANT to be a fan, but the unhealthy obsession most people in this city have with the Steelers, and having them shoved down your throat 24/7 everywhere you go really turns me off. Go Cardinals!
