Secondly, I would have no objection to books with a homosexual theme being available in the school library PROVIDING they have some genuine literary merit and are age appropriate. Books that discuss orgies or explicit sexual acts don't meet that criteria.

That is exactly how I feel as well

Why doesn't it belong in a school library when a library is meant to educate & teach? Are you afraid that your child may be so impressionable that reading a book about gay sex might turn him gay or engage in orgies?
I read books about Communism & Nazis yet to this day I am neither! You obviously have some concern regarding your child otherwise this wouldn't be a issue for you.
By the way if the "Gay" agenda is so succesfull why are there still so many heterosexuals in the world?

Homosexuality is not the threat.... it is the forced indoctrination to pornograghy and other degenerate topics that kids should not be exposed to
Well I suggest that you blindfold your child & banish all forms of media in your home since sex is in every media form from music videos to commercials. Kids will eventually discover & have sex whether it's gay or straight.

Is this not a graphic depiction?

I guess it would be ok for a kid to read about homosexual sex as long as the characters ended up burning in hell?

Disgusting

You're right, I don't... and neither do you or anyone else here, which is why we provide books on ALL topics for ALL members of the community. Some of our community members are gay, some are Christian, some are Black, some are all or none of the above - so shouldn't we provide a wide variety of books to cover our bases? Or do you think we should only pander to you? I find much of the Bible to be offensive, but you don't see me complaining about the numerous copies on our shelves. I also haven't complained about the vomit-inducing Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin & Dr. Laura books, in fact I've personally ordered a few of them for our library. Guess I'm not as self-centered as you are, huh?

My "degeneracy?" I do not own these subjects, and don't even have a personal stake in them... I just recognize that some people do, and they should be free to read whatever they choose.

Btw, America's children aren't all that innocent, and they can find anything on the internet these days. If you think some teen novel is the worst form of corruption, you are the innocent - no, NAIVE one here. And if you have no control over your child's reading material, that's more of a parenting than societal issue. But again, nobody is being forced to read these books, so I don't see how they're being pushed on anyone.

I consider your urge to impose authoritarian restrictions on what everyone else can access to be very sick indeed, and entirely un-American.

Now we are calling porn in a PUBLIC library or a school a novel? That's rich.... "Of war and peace" is a novel... not some sick written garbage by a pedophile.

Liberals calling others authoritarian are like the pot calling the kettle black.

We are referring to CHILDREN here, not adults. Big difference
